Today was EXCELLENT. I wish I'd brought my camera to Whimsicality Club. We had a fairly normal meeting, other than the fact that the Logan (Max) was in Chicago, and the Max (Logan) had to leave early for work, but the Darcy (Mike) was actually THERE for once, as there was no band practice, and I learned how to make a leaf crown. I'm so making one and wearing it to class Tuesday.
Anyway, after half of the people went home, the rest of us took sidewalk chalk and had fun drawing ads for club on the sidewalk around the park. While we were doing this a bunch of ducks waddled over to the road, looking like they were going to cross. Lauren said something about them using the crosswalk. Two smaller mallards started waddling toward the main group -- and then the main group just flew over the crosswalk, over to a small spot nest to a stand of trees on the hill. The two that were left behind just stood there looking confused for a bit, then waddled as fast as they could across the street to the main group. It was so cute! A few minutes later the main group flew back to the pond, and the stragglers followed a couple minutes after that. If I only had my camera, I could have gotten some great pics! They were beautiful ducks, and they passed by pretty close to us.
So after club ends, I went to the Valleys with Lauren and Chelsea, and we ate dinner and then went back to their room where I tore through volumes 1 - 7 of Marmalade Boy. Then Jimmy showed up, and we followed him to the gazebo where he was going to be telling scary stories to a group of visitors. He had five stories he was going to tell, the first three being urban legends that he'd found online, and then the last two stories that he made up himself. We were supposed to be helping out with the last one, which goes like this:
There are three girls who live in one of the dorms on campus. One of them would walk the same path through the park every day, and the other two would hide in the woods snapping branches as she walked by, driving her crazy. After a couple weeks of this, every day, the girl got so pissed off that she charged into the woods to confront the girls... but she completely bypassed them, and they ran off laughing about how she was going to get lost in the woods.
A day passed, and the girl didn't come back. Then a week, then a month. Her parents finally came around and took all of her stuff from her room. The girls decided she'd just gone home and couldn't take college life.
One day they were walking along the same path, and someone started snapping sticks. One of the girls ran into the woods, figuring she would scare the person who was trying to scare them. The other hung back on the path, until she heard her friend scream. She ran into the woods, and about a hundred yards in she came across the lifeless body of her friend, next to the floating apparition of the girl they'd tortured. All the girl could do was scream.
So Lauren and Chelsea hid in the woods by the gazebo, snapping branches randomly during the stories like Jimmy asked them to. Some people noticed right away and got really freaked out (it didn't help when I kept telling them it was just squirrels. "They get really big around here, really!"), while the rest didn't notice until the last story. Chelsea and Lauren were supposed to snap a lot of sticks at once when Jimmy got to the part about the girls hearing sticks snapping, but a coupel girls were trying to find them in the woods. And then someone else and I screamed at the last part about the girl only being able to scream. It was so much fun; we freaked most people out. Jimmy did have to tell a lot of people to sit down, though, since a couple decided they were going to act the stories out. I had a lot of fun. We should totally have a bonfire there soon, just a bunch of people from Whimsicality Club, maybe a couple others, and just have fun. That would rock.
