Yesterday was tiring. I had to get up at 5:30, leave for mom's at 6, leave for K-zoo at 6:30, all to get to the Bernhardt Center at WMU at 8. We made it, and sat through the semi-boring opening presentation, and then parents and students were separated; the parents attended lectures about certain aspects of campus life, and we toured the campus and got our own lectures, learning about dining plans and touring the residential halls (man, they're tiny!) and stuff like that. It wasn't NOT fun, but it was hot, humid, and we walked everywhere, so I was sweating horribly by the time we went back to the center to work out our schedules.
I have a pretty good fall semester schedule. Creative Writing from 10:00 - 11:50 am Tuesday and Thursday, Japanese from 2:00 - 2:50 pm Monday through Thursday, Sociology from 5:00 - 6:15 pm Tues. and Thurs, and Pre-Calc from 6:00 - 7:40 pm Mon. and Wed. Not bad -- only 14 credits out of a possible 16, but if I'd added one more class it would have been 17, and neither the counselor nor Mom thought I should do that. Hopefully I'll have enough credits by the time I'm supposed to graduate; if not, I'll take summer classes. I don't mind TOO much.
I did make a friend. This girl Katia from Detroit was practically the only person I talked to the entire time, aside from our group leader and Cal, who seemed to have a problem with me or something. (I'd commented on his shirt earlier, saying I thought it was "awesome", and his reply was to nod and look away. Bah, I say.) Katia was cool, and I've got her email so I can stay in touch with her over the summer. There's no chance she'll be my roommate, as she's already requested that she room with a friend, but at least I'll have someone to hang out/study with, and maybe start a gamers club. (She LOVES Final Fantasy. I am teh happy!)
I've already ordered my textbooks, my I.D. makes me look stoned, Mom got me a checking account with a local bank and an application to work in the computer labs on campus (hope I get hired!), and she said that, since the college doesn't provide phones, she's thinking -- just THINKING, mind, and she's going to talk to Mark about it, and she wants me to talk to Dad -- about getting me a cellphone. She said that if I went over the monthly minutes, that I'd have to pay, and I almost did a double take. I always thought that if I wanted a cellphone, I'd have to pay for the whole package myself -- something I'm not against. So, when she said that, it was odd. On the one hand, that would be GREAT, but on the other hand, she wants me to be independent, and I do too. *shrug*
I've actually been working on the Final Trinity fanfic, which is a FF cross-over fic I've been working on with Tyramir and Nisus -- we kind of rotate chapters. Which is fun, but I'm not sure it was a good idea for me to take this on when I'm such a procrastinator. Bah. Hope I don't let them down. Tyramir said he'd write the fourth chapter of my own fic for me, for my birthday, Ruth Ann wants to take me to a strip club, and
chunkytomatoes is making me some Breaking Benjamin icons. Now all I have to do is get someone to pay for another six months of LJ, and I'm set.
