a. Post a list of 15 fandoms.
b. Have your friends list guess your favorite character from each one.
c. When guessed, bold the line, include the character name, and write a sentence about why you like that character.

1. Final Fantasy VII - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] prettyparadox. I guess this is the obvious one. I like Aeris's inner strength (which you've gotta have if you've been hearing voices no one else can hear since childhood and haven't gone insane)... and her hair. XD
2. Kingdom Hearts I/II
3. Hana Yori Dango
4. Ouran High School Host Club - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] the_flowergirl. Tamaki pretty much makes the whole show for me. He's so very, very hilarious and dorktastic.
5. Princess Tutu - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] nidoking. Fakir is awesome for so many reasons - his need to protect Mytho and Ahiru, his hotheadedness, his anger at not being able to protect them, his determination to do anything he has to to keep them safe and help them, the fact that he writes. :3 Also, he's the exact opposite of the mysterious, aloof romantic lead (*cough*Mytho*cough*) that so many anime have.
6. Final Fantasy X/X-2
7. Final Fantasy XII - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] hidden_now5. Basche is mainly an eye candy choice - he is DELISH. Also, he's a badass :3
8. Hellsing - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] hidden_now5. Walter is probably the most badass butler ever - come on, fighting with wires? How freaking awesome is that?
9. A Song of Ice and Fire
10. Chrno Crusade
11. Brigadoon - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] nidoking. Melan Blue is just badass. He's a living weapon, for crying out loud. Plus his English voice is the only one that I can listen to for more than five seconds without wanting to puncture my eardrums.
12. Princess Mononoke
13. Final Fantasy IX - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] angahith. Vivi is just so adorable and vulnerable. He's one of those characters that you just want to pick up and hug.
14. Supernatural - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] hidden_now5. Dean Winchester is intelligent, tough, and incredibly complex - not to mention absolutely gorgeous. Rowr!
15. Buffy: the Vampire Slayer - guessed by [livejournal.com profile] magiclad2007. Willow is another character I love mainly for the adorable factor, at least for the first three seasons. Later on, I liked how she got addicted to the power she cultivated. Makes for an interesting character.

I was driving home on Saturday when one of the tires on the right side of my car started making this thumping noise. I figured it was the back tire, since the last time I took the car in they said I'd need new back tires soon, and that I'd gotten something stuck in the treads. I didn't even think to check the front tire until yesterday, when I was backing out of the driveway and Grandma stopped me and told me that I had a flat. Turns out there was a giant screw that punctured my tire, and that's why it was making that noise. At least Discount Tire was able to repair it, so I only had to get two tires replaced instead of one.

Of course, nothing can ever be simple with my car. Now it's shuddering while I drive, especially when I'm slowing down, though it's really noticable if I let the car inch forward. And while the "Service Engine Soon" light is on a lot (which I usually let go because there's a short in the system, and it's only something to worry about when it's on for more than a couple weeks), now it's blinking, which means I really need to take it in soon. Of course I need to take it in. I can't possibly have my car working correctly, now can I?

I love this site. I finally get to watch Heroes, the Dresden Files, the third season of LOST, Peach Girl, and re-watch Are You Afraid of the Dark. And I had no idea they had a Xenosaga anime. I'll have to watch that once I'm through with Peach Girl.

I've especially been watching the Dresden Files. I just finished Storm Front, and I'm really disappointed that they cancelled the show. I prefer the books, but it's really fun to watch. I like the guy who plays Harry. I like the guy who plays Bob, too, though I wish there was at least one scene where he was a talking skull. Talking skulls are awesome. And I love the drumstick wand and the hockey stick blasting rod. Random mundane objects as magical tools = awesometastic.

Peach Girl is pretty cool as well. I like it a lot better than I did the Taiwanese drama. The characters are more likeable, and it doesn't spend half of its episodes letting the main character angst all over everything. I still like the guy who plays A Li in the drama, but he's the only reason I would watch it now.
I just finished the second season of the Hana Yori Dango live-action drama. It's definitely my favorite over the anime and manga (well, I haven't even gotten through the Sakurako arc in the anime, but it's been pretty faithful to the manga so far). It's more modern, so none of that 80's crack-tasticness that makes you say "Wow, this show is dated." There's a lot that's been cut out, but nothing so important that it really changes the show that much (and, really, there's so many 'someone tries to seduce/trick Tsukushi/Tsukasa' plotlines that they get old-hat pretty quickly). And, of course, the actors are really, really pretty. Must marry Matsumoto Jun, damnit!

Not to mention that I really liked the ending. It's a lot more concrete than the manga's ending (but then they already stole that for the first season, so I guess they HAD to come up with something else), and it set off my fangirl-senses like mad. I'm totally using the live-action instead of the manga for my HYD/Hot Gimmick crossover. It makes it a little easier to write. If it sounds like I'm being intentionally vague, that's because I am. I don't know who's interested in this show, and while I know there's one person *cough[livejournal.com profile] theweedcough* who's seen this show, I don't want to ruin it for anyone else who's going to see it.

Also, new layout to match my fangirling! :3

And on the non-fandom track, I have to buy a new power cord for my Mac. I've had to wrap the base with electric tape because the wires are coming loose and otherwise I'd have to constantly hold it together to charge my computer. Unfortunately, these things are $80 - what the fuck? The reviews on Apple.com are really bad; apparently some people are going through two or three of these a year. And I can't get it from anywhere else, so I'm stuck shelling out the money. Once I finally get a job, I'm saving up for a new computer and using the Mac to store stuff.

Dad got married today. I took the place of the best man, so I stood up there with him and handed him the ring. (The ring which, I might add, he forgot and had me drive back home to grab it out of his dresser. Dork.) Thank goodness it was a short ceremony, and there were only a hundred guests at the most. One of the guests commented on the way out of the church that they were glad it wasn't a Catholic ceremony, since Mass would have been said otherwise, and I have to agree. Standing up there for twenty minutes was bad enough. I looked like a big fat stalk of asparagus, and I think my underwear might have showed through my dress. D: I got a lot of random hugs when we greeted people as they left the church. I didn't even know most of the people who were hugging me. And half of them kept saying "Do you remember me? I haven't seen you since you were this high!" And of course I didn't remember them at all. I can barely remember his high-school friends. At least he's gone for a week.

I've gotten myself hooked on J-drama now, which are basically Japanese soap operas. Right now I'm hooked on the Hana Yori Dango live action drama. I think I like it better than the anime and the manga - this may have more than a little to do with Matsumoto Jun playing Domyouji Tsukasa. He is just too damn pretty, and he's such an amazing actor as well. I cried quite a few times because of him. And I will happily admit I have joined the ranks of screaming MatsuJun fangirls everywhere. But he's not the only reason I like it. All of the actors were wonderful - Inoue Mao was a perfect Tsukushi! She's so cute, and I love her facial expressions and her reactions. I also like how they cut down and combined scenes from the manga - the three parties at the beginning were smushed into one, characters were either combined or left out, but they left in the good scenes. The only complaint I have is that they didn't include the scene where Tsukasa attacks Tsukushi. For some reason I really, really like that scene, and I have no idea why. It's not a big deal, just a minor disappointment. I can't wait for Robin to give me the second season. And I hear there might be a third season, which would make me so very, very happy.

Speaking of the second season, I was surfing a J-drama bittorrent site, and in their forum they had a thread talking about HYD season 2. It was obviously pretty old, as it started out wondering what it was going to be like. Someone posted that they didn't know if they wanted to see it, as they didn't want the storyline to be ruined. A second person said "Well, there's plenty of material from the insanely long manga to use as plot. I'm sure it'll be fine." And the first person said, "What? There's a manga? I never knew that." I wanted to cry. Typing in Hana Yori Dango into Google is more likely to get you websites on the anime or manga than the live-action drama. How is it possible not to know that the manga exists and like the show? ARG.

Kimi wa Petto was pretty good, though I wasn't sure I liked the end that much. It just seemed like a cop-out: "Let's go back to the way things were!" But at least it showed that they were working on an actual relationship. Also, I feel like a complete idiot for two reasons: first, for not realizing that Matsumoto Jun played Momo until about five or six episodes in, and second, for assuming that it was just me not being able to tell Japanese people apart and figuring it was just a guy who looked like him. I am an idiot some days.

And now I am watching Gokusen, which has, you guessed it, Matsumoto Jun AGAIN! Thank you, Robin, for providing me with enough MatsuJun to drool over for a good week or so. You are truly loved!

Everyone, be prepared for some HYD icons in the near-ish future!
This probably makes me a horrible person, but it looks like someone finally added chlorine to the gene pool. The only thing Anna Nicole Smith's death is provoking in me is a wish to see Paris Hilton and Britney Spears battle it out for the title of Blonde White Trash Bimbo Queen of Hollywood. My money's on Spears - she looks somewhat more human than Hilton, as Hilton is all bones and angles and camel toe, she's actually earned her own money instead of inheriting it all from daddy, and while she has no common sense, Hilton has no sense at all. Plus, she didn't start that stupid fad of carrying small dogs around in purses instead of making them *gasp, shock horror!* WALK.

And now for spoilers to tonight's episode of Supernatural. )

I finally got around to watching the last few episodes of Chrno Crusade. I'm not sure whether I like the anime or the manga better. Story-wise, I think I prefer the manga. It was a lot more open-ended.

Cut for spoilers. )

Arg, I need to go re-read the manga, and after Robin finishes watching CC I'm going to re-watch it as well. It's been a while since I watched or read it. And I'm definitely going to have to download the soundtrack.
This rant's been floating in my head for a bit now, but this thread just kind of clinches it for me. Basically, [livejournal.com profile] chayyot decides to sling insults about Mana from Malice Mizer because the OP stated that they use Mana as a PB in a roleplay. And there is drama. MINDLESS, STUPID DRAMA. AUGH.

*cough* So, anyway, on to my rant. "You" is a general "you", not anyone in particular.

Yes, I get it, you like your fandom. Just because I don't like said fandom, or a certain character, does not make me a horrible person. Neither does the fact that I like a fandom that you think is horrible. IT JUST MEANS I HAVE A DIFFERENT OPINION THAN YOU DO, FUCKER. GET OVER IT.

This is why I don't like discussing music with people. Inevitably I'll get "Oh, they suck!" or "They're so emo!", and I'll be expected to defend them. When I say, "Well, I like them, it doesn't really matter to me whether you do or not," people get mad at me. Why? Why do I have to defend my choice of music to anyone? Why do I have to explain why I don't like your favorite band? Why can't I just say "I just don't like their music" and talk about something else? I've got varying tastes, people, there's got to be something we can talk about without getting into a "this sucks!" war!

There should not be arguements about which band's drummer sucks more, or which whiny asshole anime character is hotter, or anything else. Skill aside, what it all boils down to is difference in opinion. OPINION. As in, not fact. As in, subjective. As in, depending entirely on the person to whom the opinion belongs. As in, just because you think that Harry Potter is complete shit, that doesn't mean that whoever reads it is a complete idiot.

By the way, your fandom sucks balls. *hides*

Made a new icon today. (Hint: it's the one I'm using.) They were playing The Shining on A&E today, and I turned it on right as they reached that scene. I couldn't help myself.

Playing X-Men Legends for three hours straight can be taxing on the brain. Especially when you're doing fine, and then you suddenly get your ass handed to you and the Danger Room keeps doing the same, making it almost impossible to level up and stay sane at the same time. Bah! I WILL defeat that game this week, and then I'll get to play X-Men Legends 2. Hooray for video games!

And speaking of X-Men, I grabbed Ultimate X-Men #67 Friday. I'm going to check Nostalgia Ink tomorrow and see if they have #65 and #66. (I need my fix, damnit!)

Got to see Katie today over yummy soup and sammiches (toasted tomato herb bagels and mushroom soup are love). She's been accepted to Western, so with luck we'll be able to room together when Fall semester rolls around. Her mom keeps telling her to stay in the dorm with all of the musicians, instead of in Seidschlag (which is the girl's only dorm where I've already signed up), and now she wants to meet me to make sure that Katie's making a good choice by rooming with me. Seeing as how I have a lot of stuff, and we can pool our resources, and Sied has bigger rooms than Bigelow, I think we're making a pretty good choice here. I HOPE we can room together. At least she's going to be at WMU.

So, as many of you probably know, I used to be a huge - and I mean ginormous - Dragonball Z fan. Still am, a bit, in a "this was my first anime ever, and even though I realize now it's pretty generic and kind of sucks in places, I still love it" way. I still have at least one of my T-shirts, still have the framed Piccolo pic that someone bought for me, still have the posters and wall scroll, still have my action figures (I think -- I might have given them to my brother =X); I still have that idea for my fanfic that I never really wrote, and thank god I didn't because that character was a total Mary Sue.

More on the Sue here... )

I still want to write that fic, and maybe someday I will. After I completely revamp the characters and the storyline, and maybe watch more of the series so I can have SOME continuity. And I highly doubt I'll ever publicly post it, except maybe on this journal.

Anyway, the reason this all came up is because I started looking for JKwok44's Dragon Ball Home Page - Frozen in Time.... I didn't like the fanfiction on there too much, but it had this cool midi on there that I haven't listened to in forever, and I loved it so much. This is it. I really want to find out where it's from -- someone told me it was from Macross Plus, but I don't remember who, and either way I'm still not sure. Anyone out there know?

At that point I was remembering all the fanfics that I used to love, and I tried looking for some of them. I do remember Sarah Slutz's stuff, but apparently her page has been moved and I can't get to the new one. Which really sucks, because I wanted to reread her stuff and see if it was as good as I remembered, or if I was really deluded back then. And I really did like her stuff, too, even if it was about Vejita's Sue sister.

So... anyone know what that song is? And does anyone else want to go on a hunt for old fanfics that probably don't exist anymore?

EDIT: Well, I found her fanfiction.net page! Which apparently has all the stuff I remembered anyway! Woohoo! Now on to look for other stuff >_>;

If you're interested at all, check out her fic The Madness Game, which is what I'm in the process of rereading.
You know, I have never made a very good fan.

I never really expend a lot of energy into joining groups or finding out new things about my particular fandom (even though I have to admit it would probably be interesting and rather fun), not since I was a major Backstreet Boys fan in fifth or sixth grade and spent hours online reading about them, saving hundreds of pics, attempting to chat with people about them (the first foray I made into a chatroom, I was ignored, which kind of sucked -- I may have been a newb who thought "Hey, BSB chatroom means we talk about BSB, right?", but that's no reason to blow me off...). I'm just the most passive, "Oh, yeah, that was cool. Wanna go write half-assed fanfic now?" admirer of whatever I'm into I've ever run into. I don't spend hours looking up stuff on my fandoms (though that might be a good thing now), and to be frank, half the time I don't really care.

I dunno. Does anyone else think I should try and be a better fan?
