I've been re-watching the anime Slayers this weekend, as evidenced by my holing myself up in my room and the rather obvious away message I've put up. I'm just about to start episode fourty, which means I have thirty-eight more episodes and three or four OVAs to watch.

I really haven't watched this show in years. What I did manage to watch was a few tapes from Slayers TRY that my friend Rosie owned, and this was when I was a freshman or sophomore in high school. Of course, with my luck, Slayers TRY ended up being the third and last season of the show, so I'm not going to be watching what I remember for a while. (And what little I do remember involves disliking Amelia for stupid Zelgadis-fangirl reasons, and a bunch of Zelgadis' former henchmen working for the bad guy, one of which was a short anthropomorphic fox with an eye-patch. His name started with a J, I think. Jasper? Anyone want to help me out here? Link? Rosie? Anyone?) Filia probably won't show up until TRY, which is thirteen episodes away.

I don't think there are any characters that I really dislike in Slayers. I mean, watching it now, most of the problems I had with Amelia's character were based on her infatuation with Zelgadis, her crusade for justice (which I now find oddly endearing), and her immaturity (which is really quite prevalent in most of the characters in the first place). She and Lina are a lot younger than I thought they were, too. I'd assumed that Amelia was in her mid-to-late teens, and Lina was in her twenties, but they're actually about the same age. I still can't help thinking that Amelia is younger, though, probably because she's the most naive of the whole group.

Also, for some reason I kept thinking that Naga was Lina's sister. Thank you, Wikipedia. x_X

Anyway! While I was watching the episode in NEXT where they return to Seyruun to find a funeral for Prince Philionel, I couldn't help laughing my ass off at Phil's get-up. He looks like he's cosplaying Batman. And, um... I made icons.

They're kind of lame, but that line kept popping up in my head every time Phil came onscreen. Damn you and your cosplaying ways, Phil!

Yep, I went and made more -- ones that actually look NICE. All textures were made by [livejournal.com profile] unmasked_icons. If you're going to take any, please comment and credit!

I made icons! They're all based off this awesome Demyx video. No cut, because there's only four six of them.

Edit: Added two more. The brush I used on the fourth icon was made by [livejournal.com profile] unmasked_icons.

NOTHER EDIT: Redid the fourth icon. This is what it should look like.

Hey, look, Sarah's doing an icon post. How nice. Now let's see if I've got the etiquette down...

Over 200 icons under the cut, me hearties! )

Final count: 212 icons.

Comment and credit if you're going to use them, blah blah blah. I know they're not that good; just remember, I was bored and putting off schoolwork. And got a little obsessed in the process.

Made a new icon today. (Hint: it's the one I'm using.) They were playing The Shining on A&E today, and I turned it on right as they reached that scene. I couldn't help myself.

Playing X-Men Legends for three hours straight can be taxing on the brain. Especially when you're doing fine, and then you suddenly get your ass handed to you and the Danger Room keeps doing the same, making it almost impossible to level up and stay sane at the same time. Bah! I WILL defeat that game this week, and then I'll get to play X-Men Legends 2. Hooray for video games!

And speaking of X-Men, I grabbed Ultimate X-Men #67 Friday. I'm going to check Nostalgia Ink tomorrow and see if they have #65 and #66. (I need my fix, damnit!)

Got to see Katie today over yummy soup and sammiches (toasted tomato herb bagels and mushroom soup are love). She's been accepted to Western, so with luck we'll be able to room together when Fall semester rolls around. Her mom keeps telling her to stay in the dorm with all of the musicians, instead of in Seidschlag (which is the girl's only dorm where I've already signed up), and now she wants to meet me to make sure that Katie's making a good choice by rooming with me. Seeing as how I have a lot of stuff, and we can pool our resources, and Sied has bigger rooms than Bigelow, I think we're making a pretty good choice here. I HOPE we can room together. At least she's going to be at WMU.
