When was the last time I stayed up until quarter to six in the morning? Not that I regret it - I finally got to play Portal (and now I want my own Companion Cube, and I've got Still Alive stuck in my head, thank you very much), and I got to see the snow while it's still mostly untouched; when it's dark and no one is out, whether it's because of the time or the weather, and every sound has a hushed quality about it, and your footsteps are only soft squeaks in the snow, which is falling thick and just fast enough, and except for your footprints, the landscape is a vast expanse of unmarred white. That's my favorite part of winter. The rest of the time, snow is the relentless White Death.

Oh, and it helped that, at five in the morning, there was almost no traffic, so I didn't have to worry too much about hitting other cars on the way home. Except for that snowplow that breezed through the light when I had the right of way, making me hit my breaks and causing the tail of my car to pull 90 degrees to the right. Thanks, dude. Glad to know you're all about my safety, huh?

I've got three hats and a stuffed penguin to finish before Christmas, or at least before the break ends, and I promised myself and others I'd get around to setting up that Werewolf: the Apocalypse game I've been planning on running since spring. I couldn't find any size 4 16" circulars, and I don't have time to order them online, so I'm using DPNs and hoping that the results are similar enough. I'm also hoping that substituting acrylic for wool (hooray for sales!) won't make this hat any less awesome. I really hope my cousin likes it. If I work nonstop, I should be able to get these presents done with a bit of time to spare. Wish me luck!

I think, instead of going to sleep, I'm going to stay up and see how long I can go before I HAVE to crash. There's only a couple hours of darkness left, I can't sleep while it's light out, and if my stepbrother wakes up, I won't be getting any rest. That kid is loud. Plus, I'm not exhausted, just kind of tired, so I think I can at least make it for a few more hours.
