I have a job interview on Wednesday at 2:45 with Kohl's. Yay for Kohl's! I really hope I get this job, since EPC hasn't called at all to tell me if there's an opening in the schedule, and a department store job is infinitely better than a factory job, IMO. Here's to hoping Kohl's hires me!
Mom was there when I got the call, and the minute I hung up the phone she started saying "Well you'll need to dress nicely, since it's Kohl's, and you should do something nice with your hair. You should curl it." Well, I don't know HOW to curl my hair. My one and only experience with handling a curling iron was when I was around five and grabbed the hot part of it while it was plugged in, and Mom had to get a can of beer from the fridge and have me hold it to make my hand feel better. Other peope have curled my hair once or twice, but I've never done it myself. I'll have to have Ashleigh do it for me.

Things to wear: Any trousers that are not jeans or shorts. A shirt without a logo or hood on it. Close toed shoes. That's the dress code. I noticed in my interview that for the most part people who did not stick to the dress code didn't get hired.
They're gonna ask you about what you would do in certain situations, ie.
Question: What if the customer says something is one price and it really isn't, do you give them the price? Answer: YES. Up to a certain point. If its a completely unreasonable (more than 40% off) situation call a manager.
Q: Is the customer always right? A: Not necessarily but you do have to make them think they are. Do as best that you can to accomodate them even though you know very well they are not right. What is important is that the customer comes back. Without a customer there is no Kohls.
They will interview you with probably 5-10 other people. They ask one question and everyone answers. Eventually you'll find the question has been answered fully by everyone else and you have nothing to say, don't just say 'yeah, what she said' you must say something. Basically just make up a bunch of bullshit about customer service being the number one priority.
If you don't want to be scheduled back to back shifts (close one night, open the next morning) don't stipulate that, just adjust your availability to make it impossible, otherwise they WILL do it, OFTEN. And if you plan on working there through christmas make sure your availability says you cannot work past 1130 pm, otherwise you will work to 1230pm every night during christmas.
Tips to remember on your job at kohls: The customer is always the number two priority. Manager's ego first, customer second, employees well, anywhere you can squeeze yourself in. Asshole customers are an everyday occurance, take them in stride. DO NOT OPEN A KOHLS CHARGE! If you have a kohls charge and you work at kohls it just makes it easier to buy your way into extreme debt. It will constantly be maxed out. A lot of employees make this mistake. And Don't apply to work in shoes. I made that mistake. :)
Heh, I've written a book. :P Good luck!
