I should probably get up at around 8:30 tomorrow morning, so I can eat breakfast and leave early enough to beat the construction traffic and be on time for lunch with Mom (and possibly the brother unit), after which I'll head to John George for my ten-minute interview, and then I'll head to the Thunderbird. I might stop by Umi's barbershop first and get my hair trimmed. I like that little Korean (at least I think she's Korean) woman. She's nice. Mom's going to be unhappy that her show didn't tape like I thought it did. (Turns out the light switch that turns off Grandma's lamps also turns off everything ELSE in the room -- including the TV and VCR. Grandma said to tell Mom it was all her fault. I'll settle for telling Mom it was a mistake and hoping she doesn't strangle me before I eat my enchiladas.)
Jan said it looks like we'll (Neal and I) be leaving for Charleston on the 25th. His dad will drive us to Detroit, we'll fly to Myrtle Beach, and then Jan will pick us up and drive us to Charleston. I'm hoping I can get a hold of Nick and see if we can hang out at all. That would be fun. He says he's having a good summer, and he already got to meet Ava and Cheesey. Cheesey says he's cool, and he was shyer than she expected. And that he didn't really look like his pictures (though to tell the truth, I kind of expected that part. With me, most of my pics are posed. And the poses suck.)
I'm SO looking forward to this. I thought I'd be spending my summer online, playing video games, hiding from Mom, who would be insisting that I get a job and do chores and stuff (not that I'm not going to get a job, just that... um... yeah, I'm not going to go there just yet). Instead, while I will be spending two hours on a plane with a little boy who's well known for his rambunctiousness and his inability to sit still for more than thirty seconds (Jan says maybe he'll be distracted by the clouds the whole flight. But notice she didn't tell me to forego the 'activity bag'), and watching him for the next week, I DO get to not only hang out with my stepmom, I get to see another part of the country, and maybe even meet an online friend. Life's looking good.
I think maybe it's time to re-check my health insurance policy.
