How weird is admiring someone's skin color?
I'm not talking about looking at someone and saying, "Oh, s/he's black/white/Latino/Asian. S/he's so hot/pretty/cute/handsome/etc." I mean actually noticing the tone of their skin and admiring the color.
I like that honey-bronze hue that's usually associated with Latinos. I'm fascinated with that utmost dark coloring that some African(American)s have, where their skin is so brown it's almost ebony, and when they get wet there's this purpley sheen to it. I find that especially beautiful. (I also like how African Americans' palms, fingernails, toenails, and the soles of their feet are paler than the rest of their body. It's a direct contrast to my own skin, where those areas are redder than any place else, except my damn cheeks. I started noticing this in preschool, and I have no idea why.) I also like all the colors in between, all the different mixes one could think of -- the chocolates and the cinnamons and the coffee&creams, the bronzes and the peaches and the muted yellowish/brown straw color that people usually associate with Asians. (I have no idea what else to describe that skin tone as.)
I like see-through pale skin. I like skin that seems to draw all the light into it. I like every possible shade in between. Chances are I'll like your skin color, unless you're really blotchy or unhealthy. And I don't know if that's weird or what.
