I just spent the day watching eight episodes of the Taiwanese drama "Devil Beside You" on YouTube, because I'm way too impatient to wait for these torrents to finish downloading. I figure I'll keep the torrents, so I can watch them in one piece later and in better quality (hopefully with a better translation, too), and get as far as I can on YouTube. I think I can watch the first twelve episodes at the very least. The show's based on the manga "Akuma de Souro," or "The Devil Does Exist". It's not bad - not really remarkable, but not bad. The acting sucks a little, but then three of the main characters are supposed to be over the top so that's kind of forgivable. And the dad has a Doraemon apron! :3 It's really cute. I want one now. (I still can't believe Doraemon's supposed to be a robot cat.)

Cake tastes surprisingly good if you stick it in the freezer for a while.

It's my first t-drama, so this is the first time I've noticed it. And I probably shouldn't base my opinion of all Asian dramas on only four shows, only one of which I've finished, but man do they make the funniest exaggerated facial expressions!

*snicker* yeah... that's a T-drama thing. I've seen a hell of a lot of them. The shows are usually good despite that though. You just have to learn to put up with it/to get past it.

Oh, I have no problem with it. It just kind of heightens the cheese factor, which means I'm a lot more likely to laugh during really serious scenes.

But they only come out after a girl gets a drink dumped on her head (or if she's caught in the rain, but it's not nearly as dramatic that way)! Maybe the crying's expected to follow?

You know what kind of pissed me off? I was reading the comments on YouTube for the DBY eps, and it was kind of disheartening to hear all the kiddles saying "Eew, Li Xiao's ugly!" One girl even said, in response to the line about seeing her own ugliness every time she looked at Qi Yue, "Well if she's not around why not try looking in a mirror you ugly bitch?" (Paraphrased, of course. The amount of caps in that sentence almost blinded me.) Isn't it grand to know that being a female antagonist automatically means you're an ugly bitch?

I'm going to give them the benefit of the doubt and assume that they're mostly middle-to-high-school-aged kids, since that's generally the age where you assume these things, right? Right?

Oh, hey, by the way, do you have any reccomendations for j-dramas? I've only seen Kimi wa Petto, HYD, DBS, and a little bit of Gokusen, and I really want more.

*ponders* Um... I don't normally watch J-dramas because they tend to be FAR darker than the others. I can recommend the T-drama MARS though. It's quite good.

Also, Great Teacher Onizuka (J-drama) is fun!

Is MARS based on the manga? And I'll have to go check out GTO - I never did get very far in the anime or the manga so this time I won't know what's coming.
