So, I watched it last night... This series just gets darker and darker as it goes on. In the beginning, it was happy and slightly fluffy, with Marin being the cute little middle-schooler that she is and not understanding why these things from another world want to kill her. (Ah, hilarity, thy name is Brigadoon... I think...)
I'm not sure where the turn from cutesy-with-creepy-elements to cutesy-but-getting-progressively-darker-and-more-sexual pops up. At least in the second DVD, where Poikun shows up; he's controlled by his tail. Which is obvious innuendo if you have seen this. >_> (Not to mention the bathhouse episode, where almost every character runs around buck naked.)
And then Granny dies. Which is sad. And Marin ends up going to Brigadoon, where she runs around naked some more and we get some actual plot (or at least a shitload more than what we normally get). And then Melan almost gets killed by his friends and things blow up and we move on to the fourth volume.
This is one... weird DVD. At least "Gorgeous Submaton Color" is, anyway. The part where Erin and Pyon run around singing "Melan no baka!" and Erin licks Melan's face (and then Melan hits Pyon before he can do that) are hilarious.
It's sad when Lolo's room explodes. And when Marin goes blind and that one bitch from her class walks her off a bridge and leaves her hanging above a freeway. And then Melan almost dies, and at the end of the DVD Marin is dying. Gah.
