Oh, the eclipse! The moon looks like it's smoldering. I tried to take photos of it, but flash just gave me a little white sliver on a black field, and without flash it was very blurry and a little like those rave glow-stick shows. The guy at the front desk said his brother is watching and taking pictures with his telescope, so I might be able to get photos from him.
There was a spelling bee in Henry tonight. I got into the top ten out of thirty-five contestants. Not too bad, especially considering my last spelling bee was in eighth grade. The first round was the traditional "words so easy you'd have to be a particularly stupid first-grader to get wrong" round, solely for the feel-good factor; I got "elephant". The second was a massacre, with nineteen people getting cut. I got "catechism" for that one, and Jimmy misspelled "kaleidoscope". My third word was "sequoia", and then I bombed out on the fourth round with "toboggan", which I spelled "t-a-b-b-o-g-o-n". At least I beat Jimmy. The guy who won first place also won the raffle they were holding, which upset some people. I think they should have had the raffle before or after the spelling bee, not during it, as that would have cut down on some confusion - Chris thought the winner was getting two prizes for the bee, instead of one for the bee and one for the raffle.
I really wish I had won that iPod Touch, though. I would have sold it. I REALLY need the money. I have $46 in my bank account and $20 in cash. Taco Hut finally has my schedule (after I turned it in three times before), but I can't get any hours until after spring break. I might be able to get a little bit of money from my parents, but this still really bites. And I need to start saving money now if I want to have any for Germany.
At least I have no class tomorrow morning. I get to sleep in! I still need to tell Olivia that I'm going to Germany. I know she's going to be happy for me, and I need to talk to her about taking a semester off (since I'm pretty sure she's my academic adviser). I just have to go to Japanese, and then have three possible topics for my research paper ready by 6:40 and head on over to English for twenty minutes of discussion. Tomorrow is going to be a nice and easy day.
ZvH meeting Saturday at noon, and then a movie and dinner with Dad. Hurrah for the weekend. :D
