I only have experience with shotguns, and they are painful. Some of them recoil, which means that they'll slam back into your shoulder with great force every time you fire. I have one that's been ported (I had holes drilled into the gun barrel) so that it won't slam back so hard, but it still hurts. I haven't fired it in ages.

And really, I would never, ever shoot someone unless I had to (i.e. someone was trying to kill me). Random killing is stupid. But I would still like a Desert Eagle, if only to target shoot with it. Handguns are a lot easier to handle than a big, ungainly shotgun.
