I think I'm being stalked by an eleven-year-old girl.

I got an IM on my AIM name that I made solely for the purpose of roleplaying Aeris. From someone asking who I am, and claiming to be an eleven-year-old girl. The name is rather stereotypical of the age group. Anyway, I chat with "her" for a little while, then make some excuse to get offline and block her. (Yes, I'm a wuss. I just don't like being mean to people unless they did something to really piss me off.) There, now I'm not feeling uncomfortable talking to someone who is either seven years younger than me or a police officer trying to see if I'm a pervert. I can see how my name might make someone think that (flowergirlinpink does sound a little odd if you take it out of context).

Except I just got an IM this morning from the same person, under a different screen name.

Name changed to protect the potentially innocent.

Kidperson: hi sahira
flowergirlinpink (Autoreply): Waltz with me, my love
Tell me what you're dreaming of
Hold me now
We can share our love
Waltz with me, my love

(Sleeping. Perhaps dreaming of dancing like the ballerina I could have been had I continued those damn lessons.)
Kidperson: who is this
Kidperson: this is jessica
flowergirlinpink: Jessica...?
Kidperson: the 11year old
flowergirlinpink: oh
flowergirlinpink: hi
Kidperson: hi
Kidperson: whats up
flowergirlinpink: not much
flowergirlinpink: just woke up
Kidperson: me too
Kidperson: what are you doing?
Kidperson: im playing a game
flowergirlinpink: checking my email, and then I think I'm going to go play video games.
flowergirlinpink: cool
Kidperson: yeah
Kidperson: how are you today?
flowergirlinpink: I'm okay
Kidperson: same thing
Kidperson: hold on
flowergirlinpink: k
Kidperson: g2g
flowergirlinpink: k
Kidperson: see ya
flowergirlinpink: bye
Kidperson: bye

If it's a cop, then whatever; I'll be fine because I don't make advances on eleven year old girls. Or any eleven year olds. I rarely make advances on girls, for crying out loud, but the combination makes me feel as nonsexual as humanly possible.

If it really is just a kid, then I still don't feel comfortable talking to her. How did this person get my sn anyway? I had it on my profile briefly, then took it off for the summer and never put it back on the profile. This is why I'm wondering if it's a cop, because they might go searching for "pervert" names or something like that.

How do I tell this person that this is a roleplaying sn, and that I'm not comfortable talking to them because of the potential legal ramifications and because I really am nervous around kids altogether?

It's kinda sad that you hit the age of majority and you have to watch what you say to minors over the internet. Mind you, I'm the same way.

Honestly when cops IM you, they're usually not quite as blase unless they really have a reason to suspect you and are fishing very, very slowly. I'm pretty sure she's honestly an eleven year old girl. Which, in a way, is even worse. She doesn't sound like a talented conversationalist.

Most of them aren't. Granted, this is based on me talking with my cousins, all of whom seem to want me in the funny farm the way they treat me...

Dude... my 11 year old cousin is so much cooler than that kid.

Anyway, it's probably a kid. I don't like being mean to people either but unless you're, like, really strapped for time or something I don't see anything wrong with talking to her a little bit. It's better she talk with you than some -real- pervert out there.

um, just say that. next time she IMs you, say "um, you know, this is a roleplaying SN and not really for random chats. I'm sure you're a nice kid, but I don't really want to talk to someone so young online. Thanks." just a thought.

Just tell them, "You seem nice and all but I'm not comfortable chatting with you because of our age difference. I'm sorry."

Its what I do at least.
