I mean, come on. If the lady really meant what she said by not needing it, then the waitress would have probably gotten the tip, pregnant or not. Give people SOME credit.

WOWZA. Yeah, I'm with you there. Obviously, this guy's got serious issues, tied to all the guilt and shame involved in knowing that, at one point, some slutwhore decided to have a "demon crotchfruit" and he had to suffer the agony and horror of being born and being the most horrible of all things, a child, for many years... of course since it's obvious he hasn't STOPPED being one... hmm, maybe that's why he's so pissed?

I think it's nifty when people do things like that (the tip) though I didn't read the original article so if she left the tip just because the girl needed it because she was pregnant, I think that's kinda stupid. Other non-pregnant people could need it just the same.

She later sent in a note saying that she'd left it because she didn't need it. Dwindling faith in humanity aside, I assumed she would have left it whether the waitress was pregnant or not.

The funny thing is, someone else posted it in childfree, and they got the same reaction I gave; why is it such a big deal that the waitress was pregnant? She got a >3000% tip! (Might have read that wrong, but I think that was the calculation.)

I can understand being pissed if she'd sought out a pregnant waitress and given her the money, or left a note saying "Here's to your baby's future!" or something. As far as we know, she did it because she felt like giving money to someone who needed it. (And we all know how badly waitstaff need it!)

The big deal with whether she's pregnant is that it supposedly sends the message that people who are broke and pregnant deserve money more than people who are just broke, or at least that's what I think some people were getting at.

Well see, I just think even if she DID leave the money because the girl was pregnant: SO WHAT?! It's that lady's money, she can do whatever she damn well pleases with it. It made her feel good to do a nice thing, and it made the waitress feel good to have such a nice thing done for her (because, as has already been pointed out, waitstaff need money regardless of whether they are pregnant!) and quite frankly, I think that's awesome. I mean, yeah, I'm just a big bleeding-heart idealist or whatever, but I thought this story was sweet. My personal opinion? That lady must have been listening to a country station and thought "my gosh, what a fabulous idea!" because there is SO a country song that is about that very thing happening! :D

Edit: and because I didn't make it very clear, the last line was in jest. I don't think that people can't have the same ideas independently of one another. ;)
