Went to see The Village today. That is a REALLY good film. No spoilers, but the twists just keep on coming; once you think you've figured it out, they turn you around AGAIN. M. Night Shyamalan rocks.

I've been at Dad's since Wednesday night. Good stuff, we've got things straightened out and we're co-existing in relative harmony now. Nothing to worry about for the time being. Mom's in Washington D.C. with Mark, and Rob's at Grandma Ruth's house for a week or two for some camp. I've got a baby shower to go to on the 7th for a former student of mom's and one of my former classmates, and on the 9th I have an appointment with Dr. Samson (the plastic surgeon) at 7:30 IN THE FUCKING MORNING. After that, I'll go to Mom's and we'll go to Kalamazoo to visit Western Michigan University and pick up Rob.

Applied as a young Sirius in a Harry Potter LJ-based RP. I really hope I'm accepted; it's my first journal-based RP, and the rules/time limits are perfect for my schedule and style (for the most part, at least). I'll let you all know if I'm in or not.

Your icon muchly amuses me...

You're thinking about going to Western? I'm thinking of going there to do pre-law undergrad and then U of M for Law School.

Can you give a basic idea of the plot without spoilers?

Basic plot -- a small village in a valley surrounded by forest, founded by people sick of the abject misery they lived out in "the towns". The forest is inhabited by creatures who have some sort of truce with the people; the people don't go into the forest, and the creatures don't go into the valley. Apparently the color red attracts the creatures, which wear red cloaks, so red ( the "bad color") is forbidden in the village, and yellow is the "safe color", so they wear yellow cloaks when tending to chores around the outside of the forest.

Lucius Hunt (who says very little) wants to go to the towns to get medicine, since they have no medicines to combat sickness. And it seems that the creatures are coming into the valley, sending "warnings" -- all the dogs and livestock and poultry are found with fur and feathers removed, necks broken, and flesh slashed but not eaten. And, er, that's really all I can tell you without giving away big parts of the plot. It's not really a scary movie so much as it's a psychological thriller (which I enjoy far more anyway).

That sounds pretty cool. I might go there, if I can afford it and it has the programs I'm looking for. I highly doubt I'll be moving out fo the state for college. But I'm hoping I can get into U of M or MSU, though my grades might not be quite good enough for that. From what I've seen so far, Western is my last choice, since I'm more partial to Eastern than Western. Then again, I know next to nothing about Western.

You should add the new journal, Spawnie. :P

Catching up on comments...

I really wanna get into U of M but, like you, I don't think I have the grades to. Western is pretty good. I just am really interested in those two since they are the only ones I know of that don't require you to live on campus your first year.

Re: Catching up on comments...

Ooooh. Never knew that. Though I would still live on campus, as the cost of commuting would not be a good thing. Might want to consider that, hun, since all those schools are an hour away from here. Unless you're thinking of living in the city, and then that would probably also cost money, because even if you're living with someone else you're going to have to split rent.

Re: Catching up on comments...

You know, I have been to all these schools, plus 7 others. So you're not telling me anything that I, or an idiot, wouldn't already know.

There is off-campus housing, plus getting renting a place with a couple room-mates, plus optional one bedroom dorm rooming. I've looked at all the options, dear

Eep! Sorry! I was just trying to make sure you knew that and stuff, never meant to insinuate anything! ::hides::
