Well, I'm safe and sound in Kalamazoo, all moved in and settling in nicely. 'Round Tuesday I'll head over to the library -- I'm thinking tonight I'll just try to find a nice little cafe to frequent. Maybe I can go there randomly and have something to drink while I write. There has to be a place other than Starbucks and the Thunderbird that makes a chai tea latte, right?
Speaking of writing... Oh damn. Remember the fanfic I was supposed to be cowriting with Tyramir and Nisus? Remember how I procrastinate all the time and I was worried about not being able to catch up? Well... I don't have to worry anymore. They're going to replace me, because I don't even have my first chapter finished. Tyramir's already given me more than enough time to catch up, by postponing his own story he's been working on (he said that once he was done we'd start on the fic, and Nisus has at least eight chapters already.
I feel so horrible. I TOLD myself I wasn't going to put things off like I usually do. I made myself promise I wasn't going to let them down. And here I did just that. Tyramir says I can proofread, so I get to see the story before anyone else, and that if he ever does another co-written fic, I'm welcome to join in, or he'll be willing to work on one if I come up with an idea. I might also be able to write a guest chapter if I'm good and/or lucky.
Jeez. Way to go, Sarah. I guess I'll just have to finish my own fanfic first, and see what happens from there.
Also, I finished the first drabble. Deanna, you want I should email it to ya?
EDIT: Augh, I'm supposed to post it. Here goes.
Severus lay on his stomach in a daze. The end of a sheet was draped over his naked body, covering his back and nothing else. Propping his head up, he looked over at the other man in the room, sitting at a desk with a scroll of parchment laid out in front of him. He, too, was naked, save for the five-foot boa constrictor draped around his neck.
Rolling onto his back, Severus held his arm up to the ceiling and gingerly traced the Dark Mark, still fresh from two hours ago. It was tender (though not as tender as other parts of his body); even the slightest touch sent a jolt of pain through his forearm.
“Severus,” Voldemort said, his voice cool and level, not looking up from the scroll.
“Yes?”
“Leave it alone, or it will take longer to heal.”
“Yes, milord.”
Something cold and smooth brushed his leg. He sat up, and Nagini slithered into his lap and across his stomach. Shivering, Severus flopped back down and stared at the cracked plaster of the ceiling.
He jumped when Voldemort touched his ankle, sliding his cool hand slowly up the young man’s leg. Severus moaned, and Voldemort cut him off with a rough kiss and a harsh pinch to his thigh, perilously close to his balls.
“Why don’t I see what I can do to get your mind off the pain?” the older man whispered against his lover’s pallid cheek. He kissed Severus again, more gently this time.
Soon enough, Severus forgot all about the pain, along with everything else.
