Liz had a barbeque/bonfire at her place tonight for all the people who are going to Japan (and obviously a couple people who are not, as I was invited). I finally got to see Robin again and give her back her DVDs, and now we're planning on her coming over Tuesday and maybe spending the night, so we can hang out before she leaves on September 11. (Great timing, right?) I didn't eat a whole lot, since Dad took me out to dinner beforehand. We also saw the Simpsons movie, which was pretty cool. I didn't even know my dad liked the Simpsons.
I actually talked so much my jaw hurts, and I'm not sure whether to be surprised that people actually listened to me most of the time, or annoyed at myself for jabbering on the entire time. There was this really cute guy there named Josiah, and I got to talk to him a lot - mostly about Final Fantasy games, though we did talk about German for a bit. Turns out he'd originally thought of doing the same major/minor combination I'm taking. The rest of the time I palled around with Robin and watched people set marshmallows on fire.
What really sucks is that all of the cool people in my Japanese class are leaving - the only person I'm going to have to talk to this semester will be Joe, and he can be a real ass sometimes. I'm really going to miss Robin this year. Also, why is the first cute guy I've been able to talk to all summer not only spending a year in Japan, but leaving August 3 when everyone else is leaving in September? Can't I even have one person to attempt to flirt with? Well, at least (if things go as planned and I actually get in) I'll be in Germany next semester, so it's not like I'll be the only person left behind, right?
