I tried burning a DVD of some movie files so that I could watch it on my DVD player. The menu worked just fine, exactly as I'd made it, but when I went to watch the movies themselves neither of them worked - the screen just went black. I tried this on both my laptop and my PS2, and it didn't work on either of them. I suspect that the files aren't the right type. They're .avi files - do I need to change these to another file type, and if so, which kind, and how do I do it? Can it even be done? Or would I have to find another copy of the movies that would work? I really want to be able to burn these onto a DVD so I can watch them with my mom (she doesn't like having to stare at my laptop screen).

I use a Powerbook G4, and the program I used to burn the DVD was iDVD.

I'm not entirely certain how to work that stuff either, but I'm fairly sure you have to convert the file to some other format to burn an actual dvd out of it. Don't quote me though. ,,

Unless you have a special player you will not be able to view .avi files on a DVD player. I'm not exactly sure how to do it either, but then again...
