I tried burning a DVD of some movie files so that I could watch it on my DVD player. The menu worked just fine, exactly as I'd made it, but when I went to watch the movies themselves neither of them worked - the screen just went black. I tried this on both my laptop and my PS2, and it didn't work on either of them. I suspect that the files aren't the right type. They're .avi files - do I need to change these to another file type, and if so, which kind, and how do I do it? Can it even be done? Or would I have to find another copy of the movies that would work? I really want to be able to burn these onto a DVD so I can watch them with my mom (she doesn't like having to stare at my laptop screen).

I use a Powerbook G4, and the program I used to burn the DVD was iDVD.
