So, I'm in the process of filling out 15 job applications: one each for Buckle, Aeropostale, FYE, Waldenbooks, Hot Topic, PacSun (Pacific Sunwear), OfficeMax, Michaels, Gamestop, Gymboree, Bath & Body Works, KB Toys, Taco Bell, and Maurices (which is either one of the two gift stores at the mall, or the leather store. Can't remember.) Oh, and an online application for Circuit City. I'm also going to go check Target, Best Buy, the two movie theaters in town, and any other stores I think of. Like MC Sporting Goods, I guess. (My mind is frazzled, and I can rarely come up with that many nationwide establishments, especially those located in my hometown.) I guess I'll apply for the Thunderbird Cafe, too, which is a small local cafe that may end up making me deaf, but it makes a mean chai tea latte, so I can't complain.

Does anyone have any advice about interviews or applying for jobs, and also is there anything I need to know about any of these places before I apply or accept a job there (in the event that one is offered to me)?

Mall jobs, at least in Grand Rapids here, have had REALLY crap hours lately. It seems that with the economy in such a pit, the payrolls have been cut and more places are hiring temp workers who only work once or twice a month. So I would say that if you get asked to interview at a mall job, DEFINITELY ask when you'd be working and how many hours you could expect! I was shafted this summer because I didn't ask!

As far as interviewing goes, dress nicely and bring your resume/a copy of the app with you when you go, it'll help a lot if they ask questions. Keep eye contact to show you're interested, and be enthusiastic! It's worked for me every time. Good luck!

Here's a hint: The managers at Michael's are a bunch of lying bullshitters. Only work there if it is truely neccesary. I can guarantee that you'll hate it.
